The day I got to know he is performing here was excited for one thing, What RTP he will sing this time? I did tweet him a week before the concert requesting to sing Sri Lakshmi Varahan in Abhogi and Natabhairavi RTP and he did acknowledge. So the excitement was more. He started with Thodi Varnam of Patnam Subramanya Iyer, Era napai followed with Swathi Tirunal’s lovely composition Vande sada Padma

nabham in Navarasa Kannada. The small auditorium was full already. I realized he is already on the zone and its going to be a lovely concert. My mind if filled with the RTP question still as I can’t wait for anymore. Crisp Yadukula Kambhodi alapana to render Ninnu Sevinchina, composition of Subbaraya Sastri. Crowd started swelling more and more in the small auditorium. Saints Nannu palimpa (Mohanam) was rendered beautifully with Varadharajan got his pound of flesh in the brief alapana. Swathi Tirunaal’s Bhogindra Shayinam in Kunthalavarali came in as filler. I was getting restless about the main piece. Lovely Subhapantuvarali alapana and I was kind of made my mind that this is going to be RTP but he did render a melodious Purandara dasa’s krithi Enna Rakshiso. I looked up at the watch its 8 and another one good hour to go. I was kind of decisive that he will do a miniscule RTP for 30 minutes to close at 9 or 9.15. He started a very brief Bhairavi alapana and let Varadhu take over. I told my friend this might be the RTP and he will do it very briefly. To my surprise he did continue the alapana and I did move closer to the dais. Whattay a brilliant Bhairavi!!! He did show step by step taking a graceful tour of Bhairavi raga. Awesome breath control and he was swaying effortlessly in both higher and lower octaves. The crowd was mesmerized for 20 minutes of great alapana. Varadharajan did have his pound of flesh with ease and the Tanam was performed with Mridangam. The pallavi was “Enakku avar sondhamadi, parandhaman govindhanadi mukundhanadi”. My eagerness now shifted to whether will he do a swara ragamalika? But he did that post the Thani in “Desh,Saranga Malhar and Sindhu Bhairavi”. It was 1 one hour 25 minutes of pure bliss. The crowd gave a standing ovation. He did sing Muthiah Bhagavathar’s “ Avan seyal andri oru anuvum” in Hamir Kalyani and “ Mannu Pugazh kosalai” to end a great, grand concert.

முகநூல் ஒரு அருமையான இணைப்பு வட்டம் என்பதை மறுபடியும் நிருபித்தது. எத்தனை அருமையான அன்புமிக்க மனிதர்களுடன் என்னை இணைதிருக்கிறது என்பதற்கு சிறந்த அடையாளகம எழுத்தாளர் முருகானந்தம்,எழுத்தாளர் வெங்கடேஷ் ராமகிருஷ்ணன் ஆகியோரை நேரில் சந்தித்து அளவளாவும் பாக்யம் கொடுத்து இருக்கிறது. எழுத்தாளர் முருகானந்தம் அவர்களின் அன்புக்கு நான் என்றும் கடமை பட்டு இருக்கிறேன். இந்த பட்டியலில் முக நூலில் என் அண்ணா திருவாளர் சேஷாத்ரி நாராயணன் அவர்களையும் சந்திக்க வைத்தது. நமக்கு பிடித்த சில விஷயங்களை நமக்கு பிடிதவர்குளுடன் சேர்ந்து செய்யும் பொழுது கிடைக்கும் ஆனந்தம் அளவில்லாதது. அவ்வாறே சேஷாத்ரி நாராயணன் அவர்களுடன் திருபதி
பயணம் இறைவன் தரிசனம் ஆனந்தம் ஆனந்தம். அண்ணா உங்கள் அன்புக்கு என்றும் அடிபணிய ஆசை. அடுத்து என் அன்பு பட்டியலில் இருக்கும் ஆன்றோர் சான்றோர்கள் திருவளர்கள் கிருஷ்ணமுர்த்தி கிருஷ்ணையர், ஓவிய மேதை ஜீவா நந்தன் மற்றும் சமய சஞ்சீவி எஸ் எச்செஸ் பீ. இவர்களை சந்திக்கும் தருணத்துக்காக காத்து இருக்கிறேன்.

அன்பின் எல்லை

அன்பின் எல்லை என்று ஒரு நாவல் நான் சிறு வயதில் படித்தது.மிகவும் விரும்பி பல முறை படித்த ஒன்று. எழுதியவர் த நா குமாரசுவாமி அவர்கள். மிகவும் எளிமையான நடையில் அன்றைய கல்யாண வைபோகங்களை பற்றியும் முதன் முறையாக ஒரு புது பெண் அவள் புகுந்த வீட்டுக்கு போகும் பொழுது எதிர் கொள்ளும் புதிய நிகழ்வுகள் ஒவ்வாமை முதலியவை பற்றி அருமையாக வர்ணிக்கபட்டு இருக்கும். சுந்தரராமன்,சீதா கதாபாத்திரங்கள் இன்னும் என் மனதை விட்டு நீங்காதவை.அன்றைய காலகட்டத்தில் புகுந்த வீட்டில் ஒரு பெண்ணுக்கு எத்தனை சுதந்திரம் இருந்தது,மூன்று நாட்கள் நடக்கும் கல்யாண வைபோகங்கள் போன்றவற்றை அருமையாக விவரித்து இருப்பார் நாவலாசிரியர். அந்த புத்தகம் இன்றும் தேடுகிறேன் கிடைக்கவில்லை, யாரவது முயற்சி செய்து கிடைக்கும்படி செய்யவும்.

கதைக்கு தக்கவாறு அழகான ஓவியங்கள் வரைந்த ஓவியரின் பெயர் நினைவில்லை.

ஒவ்வாமை

உலகத்தில் ஒவ்வாமை நிறைய உண்டு. நம் வாழ்க்கையில் ஒவ்வாமை வரும் தருணங்கள் உடல் ஒவ்வாமை. அது வந்தால் உடன் மருத்துவரிடம் சென்று மருந்து மாத்திரைகள் சாப்பிட்டு விட்டு என்ன விதமான உணவுகள் நமக்கு ஒவ்வாமை என்று தெரிந்து கொண்டு அதை எல்லாம் விளக்க முயல்கிறோம். இதையே வாழ்க்கையில் நம் துணை வருபவளிடமோ,கூட பிறந்தவர்களிடமோ இல்லை மற்ற உறவினர்களிடமோ வந்தால் நாம் உடனே ஏன் அதை ஊதி பெரிதாக்கி சண்டை இட்டு கொள்கிறோம். நம் உடலுக்கு என்று வரும் பொழுது வரும் அந்த சுயநலம், நம் உடல் நன்றாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று இருக்கும் நினைப்பு ஏன் இந்த தருணங்களில் வருவதில்லை? இந்த ஒவ்வாமைகளையும் இப்படி ஒரு மருத்துவ ரீதியில் கணித்து களைய முற்பட்டால், எதனை சண்டை சச்சரவுகள்,மன வருத்தங்கள், கணவன் மனைவிக்குள்ளே வரும் கோப தாபங்கள் தவிர்க்க முடியும். என் பார்வையில், முக்கால்வாசி விவாகரத்து விவகாரங்கள் ஒவ்வாமை என்று பட்டியலட்பட்டு இரண்டு பெரும் விலகுகிறார்கள். 

நீண்ட நாட்களுக்கு பிறகு

நீண்டநாட்களுக்கு பிறகு இந்த பக்கம் வருவதற்கு ஒரு வாய்ப்பு ஆனால் மனது கொஞ்சம் சங்கடபடுகிறது.

நேற்று எந்திரன் திரைப்படம் பார்த்தபிறகு இதை கண்டிப்பாக எழுத வேண்டும் என்று தோன்றியது.

ஷங்கர் இந்த திரைப்படத்திற்காக ௧0 வருடமாக உழைத்து வந்து இருப்பதாக எல்லா உரையாடல்களிலும் கூறி வருகிறார்.மற்றும் சன் டிவி மூலமாகதான் இது நிறைவேறி இருப்பதாகவும் கூறுகிறார்.

நன்றி மறப்பது நன்றன்று என்பதை யார் ஷங்கருக்கு நினைவு படுத்துவார்கள். சுஜாதா என்கிற ஒரு மிக பெரிய எழுத்தாளார் இல்லாமல் இருந்து இருந்தால் இந்த படம் சாத்தியமா என்று ஒரு நிமிடம் சிந்திக்கட்டும்.

இந்த கதை அவருடையது இல்லை என்றாலும் கருவை சுமந்தவர் அவர். இது வரை ஒருவாறு அவரை பற்றி ஒரு வரி குறிப்பிடாதது மிகுந்த மன வேதனையை அளிக்கிறது.

ரொம்ப நாளைக்கு அப்புறம் வலையில் எழுதுவதற்கு ஒன்று கிடைத்தது.

இசை அருவியில், சகல கால வல்லவன் பாட்டு பார்த்தவுடன் வந்த நினைவு. இந்த பாட்டு கடந்த இருபத்தைந்து வருடங்களாக எல்லா ஆங்கில புத்தாண்டு ஆரம்பங்களில் பாடப்பட்டும், ஆடப்பட்டும் வருகிறது. இன்னும் பல ஆண்டுகள் இது தொடரும்.

இந்த டொச்சு படத்தை (அந்த நாளுல நாங்க கமல் எதிர்ப்பாளர்கள்) பார்த்து விமர்சித்து பெரிய அளவுக்கு பந்தா எல்லாம் பண்ணி இருக்கோம் :-)
இன்று அந்த பாட்டை பார்த்த பிறகு பழைய நினைவுகள்.

பின் குறிப்பு : இந்த படம் தான் முதல் முதலாக ஸ்கூல் கட் அடித்து விட்டு பார்த்தது.

Billa

Remaking a hit movie is a big risk. Even riskier is that remaking a blockbuster by hero like Rajinikanth which is still afresh in minds of the viewers (every other week you can watch the original BILLA in any of the channels).Director has taken this up bit bravely.
First thing first.
This movie has taken Nirav Shah and Yuvan (for his background score) to the next level. The shots were crisp and Yuvan has come up with some brilliant background score.
Ajit looks awesome and carried himself very well. He has got screen presence and of the current gen only he could have done justice to this, atleast with looks :-)
Nayan is ravishing, aplomb with her costumes and will surely will give sleepless nights to other heroines.
Yuvan shows flashes of brilliance in the first item song EdhavadhuSei..the orchestration is absolutely brilliant. He has composed this item song with retro classical style.
Now lets see where the director has failed in.
Ranjith character was very powerful in the original. The director could have chosen better actor for this. RS Manohar in the original has done a neat job.
Raguman as Gokulnath looks confused all the time. Cannot forget Major in the original.
Thengai Srinivasan and Manorama's characters were trimmed. Both were plotted in nicely in Rajini's Billa.
Director has caught in the web of not to divulge from the original plot and at the same time tried nothing new. Some new twists and turns could have made this movie bit interesting.
Prabhu as DSP has tried to match with Balaji and had done some justice.The dialogues were a big letdown. Vishuvardhan could have reatined the original dialogue some few modifications.
Thankfully the movie is not so long only 3733 metres.

PS : After watching I reached for my original BILLA dvd at home.Its worth gold anytime.
